Have you ever stepped up to the tee box, swing and see your result not go the way you thought it would? You may think it is the mechanics of your swing, however, it is likely because of having a negative state of mind when playing golf. The mental aspect of golf is just as or even more important as the physical aspect of the sport. Not focusing, rushing your shot or having a negative mindset can disrupt your day on the course and results in a bad game.
When playing golf, you should always play with confidence and positivity - as golfers, we tend to get upset after seeing a ball land in the rough or the bunker. But instead getting frustrated about where the ball is, focus on how you will get out of the area your stuck in, what do you need to do to successfully get back onto the green. Positivity, patience and effort is key.
It is important that you avoid a “negative spiral” where a shot that does not go your way, bothers you to the point where you cannot focus on the game anymore. learning to let go of your frustrations as soon as possible so you can move on to the next shot will make you a better golfer.
It is natural to get frustrated from time to time when playing golf, it's a difficult game, but remember, when playing golf approach every shot with positivity, patience and effort and you will get you to where you want to be.
