OSTEN & VICTOR ALBERTA TENNIS CENTRE WINS 2017 TENNIS CANADA FACILITY EXCELLENCE AWARD
Toronto (ON) – On March 1, 2018, Tennis Canada announced that the OSTEN & VICTOR Alberta Tennis Centre (Calgary) was the 2017 recipient of the Facility Excellence Award (Facility of the Year) during Tennis Canada’s Tennis Professional Association (TPA) National Conference. The award was presented to Danny Da Costa (General Manager) and Charlie Mclean (Tennis Director) in front of 280 coaches and administrators across Canada.
The Facility Excellence Award recognizes a year-round tennis facility that demonstrates a commitment to the promotion and growth of tennis and is supportive of the TPA by employing/contracting only TPA active certified instructors, coaches or club professionals. Areas of consideration include: hosting certification and professional development opportunities; running Regional/Provincial/National sanctioned tournaments; community service; exhibitions; charity events; as well as outreach programs to help the growth of our sport.

The OSTEN & VICTOR Alberta Tennis Centre which only opened in the spring of 2016 has quickly established itself as one of North America’s premier tennis facilities. The state-of-the-art, world-class facility has introduced the game of tennis to thousands of Calgarians and has welcomed over 150,000 people through its doors. The tennis centre is also home to Canadian Western Bank School Tennis Program which introduces over 5,000 Calgary area school children to the game of tennis each year. The tennis centre’s junior development program is recognized as one of Canada’s top rated junior development programs. The tennis centre has built one of the most highly certified coaching staffs in the country and the facility is considered to have the best playing conditions in all of Canada.
The publicly accessible facility, located in Acadia, is home to several provincial, national and international junior and senior events. This coming October (October 13 – 21, 2018), the tennis centre will host the largest indoor professional tennis tournament in Canada, the Calgary National Bank Challenger and a number of community events and activities are planned throughout the 9-day tennis tournament.
